Challenge and Ambition
Solid adsorbent materials remove water vapor from a gas stream until their maximum adsorption capacity is reached and then they undergo a regeneration process. During regeneration, the bed is heated-up under a dry gas stream and water vapor is released from the material. Regeneration conditions must be verified, especially for very cold climates, to avoid condensation of water which, in liquid form, is harmful to the adsorbent.
Solution
resolvent developed a reactor model, where the flow field is coupled to the evaporation reaction and the heat balance, which can be used as a tool to evaluate the risk of condensation for different regeneration procedure and different environment temperatures.
